It is illustrated with color photo-montages and unpublished pictures from his three classic photodocumentary works: "The Bikeriders", "Conversations with the Dead", and "The Destruction of Lower Manhattan". The auto-biographical text tells the Lyon family's history, beginning with the 1905 revolution in Russia, and covers the unrest of 1960s America and the social radicalism of New Mexico in the 1970s. In words and photographs Lyon memorializes the friends, family, and adventures of his life". A brand new, pristine unopened example (cited on page 242 of Fred Ritchin and Carole Naggar's "Magnum Photobook: A Catalogue Raisonné") of the uncommon 1999 extra-deluxe Twin Palms first edition of fifty copies numbered 1 through 50 (10/200) BOLDLY SIGNED by the photographer in black ink on the rear colophon accompanied by a 12 x 10" matted black and white photograph of a montage of images from "Conversations with the Dead" SIGNED "Danny Lyon" in pencil along with his "Bleak Beauty" stamp in red ink on the verso housed in the publisher's debossed cloth clamshell box, as issued.
