Published in conjunction with a 1974 Pasadena Museum of Modern Art retrospective, this is a slender yet informative catalogue on the pioneering work of late Los Angeles-based ceramic artist John Mason. Mason showed at the legendary Ferus Gallery, and along with Otis Art Institute Ceramic Center colleague Peter Voulkos helped give birth to the West Coast Abstract Expressionist ceramics movement. An internally most handsome example additionally BOLDLY SIGNED "John Mason" in black ink on the title page showing some light wear to the covers along with the prices of fourteen works annotated in ink in the margins of the plates by the previous owner.
