ART IN POSTERS: THE COMPLETE ORIGINAL POSTERS OF BRAQUE - CHAGALL - DUFY - LEGER - MATISSE - MIRO - PICASSO
Mourlot, Fernand. Monte Carlo, MONACO & New York: Andre Sauret Editeur & George Braziller, Publisher, 1959. First Edition. 4to. Cloth in Illustrated Jacket. Art Monograph. Near Fine/Near Fine. 250pp, 102 color illustrations. Text in English. Issued in 1959, this is the beautifully produced survey of one hundred and two lithographically printed post-war exhibition posters produced (primarily by the renowned Parisian fine art publishers Mourlot Freres) for Georges Braque, Marc Chagall, Raoul Dufy, Fernand Leger, Henri Matisse, Joan Miro, and Pablo Picasso. Each image is sumptuously reproduced photolithographically here in miniature by Mourlot, creating essentially one hundred and two original graphics. A strikingly handsome example in dust jacket of this notoriously fragile, poorly-bound volume whose textblock is tight and bright with no loose pages.
