Published in 1964 by Forlag ed. in Reykjavik, Iceland and fabricated by Ives-Sillman in New Haven, Connecticut, "Book AC 1958-64" is a playful, interactive print portfolio cum illustrated book by the pioneering Swiss book artist Diter Rot - aka Dieter Roth. It consists of twenty-four alternating black and white die-cut sheets that can be sequenced near-infinitely to geometrically interact with one another in ways that presage the mid-sixties Op Art craze. A most handsome complete, well-preserved example of this extraordinary undertaking (entry number three in Dirk Dobke and Thomas Kellein's "Dieter Roth: Books + Multiples: Catalogue Raisonné") NUMBERED 20/250 AND SIGNED "DITER ROT" in black ink on the colophon sheet and housed in the publisher's austere silkscreened black cloth-over-Masonite solander box, as issued.
