Modestly duplicated and completely devoid of imagery, "War Pictures" is art and book world éminence grise Richard Prince's twelve page pamphlet of texts published in conjunction with his February 1980 exhibition at Manhattan's Artists Space. It is Prince's very first monographic publication - preceding his "Menthol Wars" by four months, and the first installment in his "War / Menthol / Pictures" trilogy. A most handsome example (artist's book entry 1 in "Bibliotheque d'un Amateur: Richard Prince's Publications 1981-2012") of the exceedingly uncommon first state - only five copies total for both 1980 editions are currently cited in OCLC WorldCat - limited to approximately one hundred "uncorrected proofs" showing a bit of mild handling and slight discoloration to its pale green bond wrappers.
