(PICASSO, PABLO). Picasso, Pablo & "Senor Don" Marcel Duhamel. Antibes, FRANCE: Privately Published by Marcel Duhamel, 1965. First Edition 1/250. 16mo. Decorative Cloth in Slipcase. Artist's Book. Fine/No Jacket - As Issued. np (116pp), profusely illustrated in monochrome and color. Text in French. "Le Carnet Des Carnets" is the charming 1965 successor to "The Pocket Picasso" - the lovely undertaking that reproduces a small "pre-war, sixty-five centime" notebook illustrated by Pablo Picasso in 1957 and subsequently gifted to his Antibes neighbor, "Senor Don" Marcel Duhamel. In 1964, Duhamel privately self-published a facsimile in an edition limited to eight hundred and fifty total copies. The 5 ¼ x 4 1/8" sketchbook in decorative cloth contains over one hundred playful, calligraphic renderings from the hand of the master in grey gouache. A year later, Picasso additionally borrowed back the original notebook, illustrated as well as annotated it along with its colorful, holographically illustrated presentation envelope, and returned it to the owner. Marcel Duhamel then once again collaborated with master printer Daniel Jacomet to publish the updated versions in facsimile, again housed in a delicate screenprinted clear plastic box. A bright, exceptionally well-preserved example of the uncommon first and only edition of this tiny gem limited to two hundred and fifty NUMBERED copies - this time issued without an accompanying text booklet.
