BY OR OF MARCEL DUCHAMP OR RROSE SELAVY AT THE PASADENA ART MUSEUM
(DUCHAMP, MARCEL). Hopps, Walter. Pasadena, CA: Pasadena Art Museum, 1963. First Edition 1/2000. 4to. Wrappers in Acetate Jacket. Artist Monograph. Fine./Fine.. 56pp, profusely illustrated in b&w with three tipped-in color plates. Designed by Marcel Duchamp. In protective clear acetate dustwrapper. This graphically striking publication was designed by Marcel Duchamp in conjunction with his 1963 Pasadena Art Museum exhibition - his very first Museum retrospective. It takes the form of a then newly-deconstructed version of Robert Lebel's Trianon/Grove Press catalogue raisonné of the artist's work through 1963. A bright, spectacularly well-preserved example of this uncommon gem limited to two thousand unnumbered copies whose fragile acetate dust jacket shows none of the usual chipping, cracking, or splitting typically seen with this title.
