Smith's Los Angeles-based "Reggae Beat and African Beat" is the magazine that grew out of deejays Smith, Hank Holmes and Roger Steffens' early eighties weekly KCRW show "The Reggae Beat". This June 1985 installment is their third annual "collectors edition" issue devoted to Bob Marley and The Wailers that includes contributions on or by Steffens, Timothy White, Jeff Walker, and "Jamfest 85". Also featured are regular columns "Reggae Movement", "African Music", and more along with loads of informative record reviews, playlists, and advertisements. A most handsome example. Published in 1968 by Dieter Roth's longtme collaborator Edition Hansjorg Mayer, this is the double issue comprising numbers 3 and 4 of "Poeterei" - the innovative Swiss artist's late sixties journal devoted to Poetry and Poesie. The first part consists of a single typographic text by Roth in German printed by letterpress on heavy handmade paper incorporating an original collaged postcard fragment that has been annotated "D.R. 68." beneath that in green ink. The second portion contains one hundred and sixty-three brief textual framents by Rorh also printed by letterpress on a much thinner stock. The volume is features green flocked endpapers reminiscent of Marcel Duchamp's "La Mariee mise a nu par ses Celibataires meme"i bound in full light grey full leather. A most handsome example of this exceedingly uncommon item limited to two hundred and thirty copies NUMBERED (70/230) AND SIGNED "Diter Roth" in green ink on the rear colophon, as issued.
